We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our team! Primarily based near Hobart, you will be responsible for the delivery of our range of our accredited training courses including for workplaces and school groups. You will have a flexible level of availability that lends itself to a rotating roster which may include some weekends and evenings. You will enjoy exploring our surrounding regions as you travel in your company vehicle to deliver training throughout Tasmania. Royal Life Saving (RLS) has a goal of achieving a 50% reduction in the number of drowning deaths by the year 2024. It is only through coordinated, locally driven campaigns and partnerships that we are we able to accomplish this. Royal Life Saving’s Community Educators play a vital role in enabling the organisation to achieve our objectives. Through the delivery of interactive water safety presentations and workshops, Community Educators work directly with NSW communities to help build fundamental water safety knowledge and skills and saves lives. Community Educators deliver a range of programs targetted to different audience groups, all centered around drowning prevention education. Our programs are currently being delivered face to face and online depending on the requirements of community groups and schools. Ngadyung Aboriginal Aquatic Recreation Program Ngadyung Aboriginal Aquatic Recreation Program History NGADYUNG is the word used by the traditional land owners in the ACT region – the Ngunnawal People – to describe water and various activities associated with it. Royal Life Saving ACT first established “Ngadyung” with funding from the ACT Health Department in 2007. Ngadyung is Canberra’s only dedicated Aquatic Recreation Program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and provides free access to the RLSSA Swim and Survive program for children in the local community who are otherwise at risk of missing out on formal water safety and survival education. More than 500 local children have participated in the program since its inception and the program is now a core program activity for Royal Life Saving ACT. Program Ngadyung runs on Sundays during ACT school terms and is offered to children 4 to 12 years. Children participate in weekly sessions boosting their development of vital swimming and water safety skills such as safe entries and exits, breath control, floating, sculling, survival and lifejacket skills, basic rescues and safe behaviours in a range of aquatic environments. There is a focus within these sessions on understanding the risks in a variety of water environments. Educating children on how to establish safe behaviours in and around rivers, lakes, dams and pools is a Ngadyung priority. All Ngadyung instructors are experienced swim teachers who hold nationally recognised swim teaching, and resuscitation qualifications. Costs Ngadyung is supported by the Federal Australian Government’s national Inland Waterways Drowning Prevention Project. There is no cost for participation or for pool entry. Attendance is completely free for eligible enrolled participants. Participate and Enrol Ngadyung is currently offered in two Canberra locations: Canberra International Sports and Aquatic Centre, Belconnen Lakeside Leisure Centre, Tuggeranong Sessions run on Sunday afternoons. Individual start times are dependent on each child’s ability level. Royal Life Saving is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and personable candidate to join our bustling Health Promotion Team. Our education team is expanding and we are looking for an individual who is capable of leading and supporting a team of casual educators as well as delivering education programs to communities across NSW. This full time (35hr per week) position will include travel across Sydney and wider NSW as we expand our education programs into regional areas. This role does include a fleet car as part of the position. Flexible working arrangements are available to the right candidate however, they will need to be able to work from the Castle Hill office for certain tasks.
