Become an Official

Become an Official

Officials are vital in facilitating the efficient and safe conduct of lifesaving competitions. From local carnivals to international Championships, pool lifesaving requires the assistance of volunteers with a wide range of skills, experience and abilities and most importantly - team work. From timekeepers to technical judges, there is bound to be a role for you!

Why become an Official?

Enjoy the Social Aspects

Our pool lifesaving officials come from all walks of life, sharing a common passion for lifesaving participation, helping to create and develop everyday lifesavers to keep our communities free from drowning.

Professional Development

Pool lifesaving is more than just a sport, offering many opportunities for officials and volunteers to develop both personally and professionally. From event management to mentoring to international officiating, pool lifesaving provides a unique and enriching pathway for leadership development and ongoing learning.

Opportunity to Travel

Events and competitions are essential to the development of our lifesavers; without the support of officials these events could not go ahead. Pool lifesaving officials can volunteer in national level events across Australia and around the world, helping to contribute to the development of athletes both at home and overseas.

POOL LIFESAVING OFFICIAL PATHWAYS

Royal Life Saving offers three levels of Officials Accreditation, equipping volunteers with the knowledge and skills to assist and conduct events from amateur to elite competitions. Learn more about the Officials pathway below.
