HONOURS AND AWARDS HONOURS AND AWARDS Our Honours System Royal Life Saving recognises the importance of its volunteers through the Honours Awards System. Recognising the significant role volunteers play in educating people in water safety, survival, rescue, resuscitation and first aid techniques in an effort to reduce injury and loss of life through drowning. Royal Life Saving NSW/ACT/TAS is committed to recognising the efforts of its many dedicated members and volunteers. Their service can be recognised through the use of the Commonwealth and Australian Honours Award Systems. The awards system recognises the significant role that volunteers play in educating people in water safety, survival, rescue, resuscitation and first aid techniques in an effort to reduce injury and loss of life through drowning. Commonwealth Honours The Royal Life Saving Society Commonwealth acknowledges the invaluable contributions of time, effort and dedication given by its many members around the Commonwealth and takes great pride in acknowledging these contributions. Commonwealth Headquarters accept nominations for consideration by the Commonwealth Honours Committee twice a year from the Commonwealth Member Organisations around the world. Royal Life saving Society – Australia is the Member Organisation in Australia – and is responsible for collection and submission of approved Nomination and Citation forms. A nomination can be made at any time, however the Australian Honours committee, meet twice a year and a call for nominations and made approximately one month prior to the meeting. In considering candidates for these awards, the level and length of performance and the quality of the service rendered are the necessary and key components to be reviewed and considered before any Honour or Award may be granted. Other criteria such as contributions, membership, council or committee involvement, etc. are important factors and these may play a role in determining the candidate’s eligibility and the level of the Honour awarded. Commendations are awarded to members of the general public in addition to emergency services personnel including the New South Wales Police Force, NSW Ambulance, Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW Rural Fire Service and NSW State of Emergency Services. All nominations must be made on the appropriate form with a written citation attached, and submitted to Royal Life Saving NSW for review and consideration. SIS40122 - Certificate IV in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation Courses / SIS40122 - Certificate IV in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation Training Menu Back to Courses Student Handbook Code of Practice Group Bookings Online PD Funded Training Learner Portal Verify a Certificate Subscribe Course Enquiries Overview The SIS40122 - Certificate IV in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation provides candidates with a full qualification to progress their career in the aquatic and recreation industry. This qualification provides the skills and knowledge to coordinate operational logistics for sport, aquatic and recreation services. It applies to senior technical and operational staff who work independently or with limited guidance from others. They take responsibility for their own work duties, performance outcomes, and supervise the work of others. Upon successful completion of the training the learner will be awarded the SIS40122 - Certificate IV in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation– a nationally accredited and recognised qualification. Please note: Royal Life Saving Society NSW is not a CRICOS provider; it is unable to provide national training to overseas students holding a student visa. Delivery Mode and Duration Learners are enrolled into the qualification and provided with an overview of training to be completed. A training program is developed in consultation with each learner’s Royal Life Saving mentor, so participants are aware of the milestones that are expected of them throughout the program. Optimally, participants should be able to work in an environment where there is access to an aquatic and recreation setting, as on the job assessment is required for several modules of assessment. Recognised prior learning (RPL) for some units is available on relevant application. For those wishing to apply for RPL, please request an RPL application form upon enrolment. Units which have previously been attained by a candidate will be credited towards completion of the qualification. Candidates have 12 months to complete the qualification. Incomplete enrolments will cease after the 12-month period. If you wish to continue your enrolment beyond this period, continuation fees will apply. Course Fee Cost of enrolment will vary depending on which Units of Competency require completion. Please enquire below if you would like further information about pricing. Prerequisites There are no specific entry requirements for this qualification however participants must have satisfactory underpinning literacy, language, and numeracy skills, this includes the ability to effectively analyse and develop comprehensive documentation and complex data. You will require access to a workplace and an approved Technical Operator Workplace Supervisor. Unit Pathway Technical Operator Pathway This completion pathway ensures that a candidate possesses the skills and knowledge to handle a high-level autonomous workload including Work Health and Safety, stakeholder communication and budgetary processes. This pathway teaches the learner how to provide appropriate maintenance of a facility, and to have a varied understanding and knowledge of what it takes to run a facility. It includes a self-paced, flexible training program that also allows individuals to acquire a first aid qualification in accordance with legislative and industry requirements. This course has an on-the-job assessment component.
