Royal Life Saving NSW, ACT, TAS is thrilled to announce the official launch of our innovative High School Portal, designed to empower high school educators and promote first aid awareness among students in stages 4 and 5. The High School First Aid Awareness Program is a dynamic resource that equips teachers to educate students on becoming safe, active, and responsible citizens, capable of responding effectively to everyday situations. Our program places a strong emphasis on teaching students how to respond effectively to real-life scenarios that lead to injuries. Through active engagement, students will learn and apply basic first aid principles, and when relevant, identify preventative measures to avoid risky behaviours that could potentially result in harm. The program is structured around five key injury areas: Bites, Breaks, Burns, Bleeds, and Breathing. We provide teachers with comprehensive resources that include lesson frameworks and marking rubric for lessons/topics, scenario content, and corresponding first aid treatment information that students need to determine and demonstrate the correct pathway of action. What's more, our content is aligned with the Australian and NSW Health and Physical Education Curriculums, ensuring that teachers can seamlessly incorporate these materials into their lesson plans while meeting curriculum outcomes. Furthermore, our program directly aligns with the National Swimming and Water Safety Framework, underscoring the relevance and importance of first aid education in various contexts.
