Learn to Swim OR Aqua Fitness Instructors
Maitland City Council's aquatic centres play an integral role in the LGA’s leisure and recreation service offering with over 185,000 visits to Council's centres each year. With two centres located in Maitland and East Maitland, the facilities offer a combination of indoor and outdoor pools, an aquatic playground, children’s wading pools, viewing grandstands and park areas, making the centres a popular leisure, play, education and fitness destination for the region.
About the role
We are looking for passionate Learn to Swim teachers and Aqua Fitness instructors to join our team as Aquatics Officers.
We have a number of casual opportunities available and offer three tiers of remuneration based on the qualifications, skills and experience you bring to the team. We also provide training opportunities for our staff and encourage career development and cross-skilling across a number of functions at our centres.
These positions require positive, energetic and outgoing individuals, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with all ages and abilities. Your commitment to customer service excellence will ensure that all patrons are gaining maximum benefit and enjoyment from the services provided at Maitland’s Aquatics centres.
About you
As a Learn to Swim teacher, you will possess a AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety Certificate or Royal Life Saving Swimming and Water Safety equivalent and or, current Senior First Aid and Advanced Resuscitation Certificate and have a current NSW WWCC.
As an Aqua Fitness instructor you will possess a AUSTSWIM WETS Aqua Instructor Certificate and/or a cert III in Fitness (Aqua Exercise Instructor), as well as a current Senior First Aid and Advanced Resuscitation Certificate and a current, NSW WWCC.
You will be available to work long and short shifts across our two aquatic centre locations over a 7-day roster period (Monday to Sunday and including public holidays).
Benefits
The base hourly rate for these casual roles will range from $26.80 up to $29.81 dependant on the diversity of your experience and skill levels across our various aquatic functions. In addition, you will also receive 25% casual loading plus weekend penalty rates (where applicable).
