
HLTAID015 - Provide Adavcaned Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy
Overview
This course equips participants with the knowledge and skills to provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy using specialised equipment, in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.
Participants will learn to assess and manage complex medical emergencies in a variety of settings, including community and workplace environments.
The course combines theory and practical components, requiring participants to demonstrate effective use of equipment, clinical decision-making, and confident, coordinated care under pressure.
Course includes:
Unconscious casualty care
AED operation
Oxygen therapy
Severe bleeding control - tourniquets and haemostatic dressings.

The Provide Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy course is completed via a Blended Delivery format, which allows candidates to work through self-paced theory content, before being practically assessed.
Candidates will work through theory content via online modules, prior to attending the face-to-face assessment to complete practical assessments and demonstrate competence in the required areas.
Candidates will receive access to their online pre-course materials upon booking into a course. This content must be completed in full before prior to their assessment date.

The amount of training is approximately 7 hours, comprising of:
· Pre-Course Online Learning: 2-3 hours
· Face-to-face Assessment: 4 hours

Prerequisites
HLTAID011 Provide First Aid. To enrol in this course‚ you must possess a current HLTAID011 Provide First Aid qualification.
A medium to high level of aquatic fitness is required for some practical components of the course. Candidates must also be able to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on a resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.
Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy
This course requires a moderate level of Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digit Skills.
ACSF 3 in Learning, Reading, Oral Communication and ACSF 2/3 in Writing and Numeracy and ACSF 2 in Digital Literacy. View the Australian Core Skills Framework for more information.

Age Requirement
Participants wishing to complete this training are to be 14 years of age or turning 14 in the calendar within which the course is to be held.
Outcomes
Candidates who successfully complete all components of the course will receive a Statement of Attainment with the unit of competency:
· HLTAID009 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
· HLTAID015 - Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy
