Join us on Parramatta’s positive transformation journey by supporting the operations of Council’s community aquatic and wellness facility - The Parramatta Aquatic Centre (The PAC).

This position is responsible for delivering City of Parramatta’s aquatic education and water safety programs ensuring high-quality lesson content that aligns with the program’s goals and outcomes.

On a daily basis, your main tasks will include:

  • Instruct lessons for students in water safety, water familiarisation, learn to swim and squads.
  • Lesson planning and teaching with an emphasis on safety and variety for participants.
  • Evaluate and adjust lesson plans accordingly to cater for the needs of the students.
  • Organise and monitor the condition of teaching equipment each lesson.
  • Regularly assess student’s progress.
  • Assist in providing a customer orientated environment.
  • Promote teamwork and communication through collaborative work practices.

About  you

The successful candidate should have a passion for teaching swimming and water safety as well as the below qualifications. No previous teaching experience is necessary. Flexibility and willingness to work a 7-day rotating roster across multiple facilities is also required.

Required Qualifications include:

  • Current Australian Swimming & Water Safety qualification
  • Current CPR Certificate
  • NSW Working with Children Check

Desired Qualifications include:

  • Experience in swim teaching/coaching at all levels from Infants to Squads.
  • First aid certificate
  • Current Australian Teacher of Infant & Preschool qualification
  • Current Australian Teacher of Access & Inclusion qualification
  • Current Australian Teacher of Adult qualification
  • Current Australian Teacher of Competitive Strokes qualification
  • Pool Lifeguard qualification

We are multiple positions available and are offering an attractive hourly rate of $29.79 plus 25% casual loading and weekend penalty rates.

Important additional information

The successful candidate is required to be vaccinated (at least 2 doses of a TGA approved COVID-19 vaccine) in accordance with Council's vaccination policy. Candidates may submit a medical contraindication for Council's consideration.

Prohibited persons as defined under the NSW Child Protection Act are not eligible to apply. A copy of a valid Working with Children Clearance must be presented at Interview.

 

This position requires the preferred candidate to undertake a Pre-Employment Medical Check, which also includes a Drug and Alcohol test.

The City of Parramatta supports a Drug and Alcohol-free working environment and employees may be subject to random testing as a result.
